The conversion of an existing building into 472 student beds, situated on Rutland Street, it is just a stone’s throw away from the central train station and the iconic Clock Tower.
Project Overview
The refurbishment and conversion of an existing insitu concrete framed building, over 8-storey plus a basement and corner tower extending to 12-storeys, into a 472 bed Student Accommodation incorporating communal areas, amenity space, coffee shop, co-working lounge and associated external works.
Built in 1955 as a the grand headquarters of shoe manufacturer, Freeman Hardy & Willis, and subject to significant damage during WW2 bombing raids before post-war reconstruction. But, it was most recently home to the International Hotel and has been empty since 2009.
